Limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis, formerly CREST syndrome, shows strong association with anti-centromere antibodies targeting kinetochore centromere proteins A-C. These antibodies produce discrete speckled immunofluorescence pattern, predicting limited skin involvement, pulmonary hypertension, and better prognosis than diffuse topoisomerase-positive disease.
