Resolution of Holliday junction in bacteria is done by

Stable Holliday junctions must be cleaved into separate duplexes before chromosome segregation. In bacteria, RuvC is the specialized resolvase that performs this resolution. It functions as a dimer, each subunit providing a catalytic site with acidic residues coordinating Mg2+ to cut phosphodiester bonds. RuvC binds RuvAB-junction complex and introduces two symmetric nicks across the junction, either in horizontal or vertical axis. Ligation of nicked products yields either patch or splice recombinants leading to non-crossover or crossover products, essential for completion of recombinational repair and replication fork restoration.
