How many grams of KMnO₄ are required to oxidize 9.8 g of FeSO₄ in acidic medium to Fe₂(SO₄)₃? (Molar masses: KMnO₄ = 158

Reaction: 2 KMnO₄ + 10 FeSO₄ + 8 H₂SO₄ → 5 Fe₂(SO₄)₃ + 2 MnSO₄ + K₂SO₄ + 8 H₂O. Moles of FeSO₄ = 9.8/152 ≈ 0.0645 mol. 10 mol FeSO₄ need 2 mol KMnO₄; 0.0645 mol needs 0.0129 mol. Mass = 0.0129 × 158 ≈ 2.04 g.
