Mycoplasma completely lack a cell wall and are the smallest living cells known. They can survive without oxygen, and many forms are pathogenic in plants and animals.

Mycoplasmas are exceptionally unique microorganisms within Kingdom Monera. According to NCERT Class 11 Biological Classification, they completely lack a rigid cell wall, which makes them highly pleomorphic. More importantly, they are definitively recognized as the smallest living cells discovered so far. Furthermore, they can survive in entirely anaerobic environments (without oxygen) and many species are significant pathogens causing diseases in both animals and plants.
