Chemogeny denotes formation of organic molecules from inorganic precursors through stepwise chemical evolution, including synthesis of methane, amino acids, sugars and nucleotides under reducing atmosphere. This precedes appearance of self-replicating systems. Biogeny later covers emergence of protocells and true cells.
